This Global Top 20 pharmaceutical company based out of the New York Tri-state area is seeking a disease area expert to serve as the Director of Cancer Immunology and head up a large group. This group focuses its work on the discovery of new therapeutic concepts, target identification and validation, target biology elucidation, biomarker discovery and implementation, and drug candidate selection for the cancer immunotherapy pipeline. Additionally, this group works liaises closely with other internal and international groups to further the global oncology portfolio so a collaborative approachis encouraged.
The Director will report to Vice President of Immune Discovery and Cancer Immunology and will have the opportunity to lead a team of 15-20 individuals.
Key Responsibilities:
Collaborate with other therapeutic areas and global peers to advance a broader portfolio of immuno-therapies.
Responsible for overseeing the strategy for progressing several active projects as well as other less active projects with the portfolio.
Provide scientific leadership and ensure the effectiveness of the group by overseeing work, communicating with stakeholders, and managing resources.
Liaise seamlessly with therapeutic area groups as well as global colleagues in international research sites.
Manage a large team comprised of 4-5 lab groups.
Qualifications:
PhD in Immunology, Oncology, Molecular Biology, or related field, with 10+ years of experience in immunology, immuno-oncology, or immunology-adjacent field.
Demonstrated track record of leadership and management, especially with leading large groups.
Strong expertise in drug discovery research and strong scientific background in cancer immunotherapies drug development.
Experience with target identification and target validation, target biology elucidation, and biomarker discovery and implementation. Familitarity with clinical development of cancer immunotherapies is a nice to have.
Familiarity with biologics drug development is necessary and understanding of small molecule drug development is preferred.
