Following the successful funding round of over €330 Million an international biopharmaceutical company is currently building a brand new innovation centre in Cambridge and is looking for new scientific talent to join the organisation to bring new antibody therapeutics to the company pipeline. This will be the first facility in Europe but will the 7th site in a global business that currently has over 700 employees and due to be over 1000 by the end of the 2022. With a stable cash flow and first commercial product launching next year it offers the rare opportunity to be involved in a start up company without the high risks associated with many early ventures.

The company is taking its propriety protein technology and applying it to antibody research to be able to tackle unmet medical needs. Position Summary:

We are looking for a passionate scientist in the field of protein biochemistry to deliver our therapeutics drug portfolio. In this role you will carry out the important work of molecular biology, protein biochemistry to support our therapeutic drug projects and look to bring new medicines to patients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Utilise your expertise in molecular biology, protein/antibody engineering, and protein/antibody expression and purification to support the development of new biologic targets.
  • Generates recombinant expression vectors for protein/antibody expression at a high throughput scale.
  • Perform the expression of recombinant protein/antibody using mammalian expression systems, purification and characterization.
  • Be responsible for the engineering, production and characterisation of various antibody formats (monospecific, bispecific etc).
  • Contribute to the data collection required to continually support therapeutic antibody discovery projects.

Key Qualifications:

  • BSc or higher qualification in life sciences field with extensive lab-based experience.
  • A minimum of two years industrial experience in antibody discovery field.
  • Must be a team player keen to work others and collaborate with others to meet your goals.
  • Comprehensive understanding of the principles, theories and techniques used in cloning, expression and purification of proteins and antibodies to support drug discovery.
  • Experience of routine molecular biology and cell biology methods.
  • Experience of mammalian expression for antibodies and other protein targets over a range of cell lines.
  • Extensive experience in monospecific and bispecific antibody expression, purification and characterization is essential.
  • Experience of protein targets and antibody expression, purification and characterization using relative technologies such as automated liquid chromatography, AKTA, SDS-PAGE, HPLC, Octect etc.
  • Extensive experience in leading and troubleshooting biologics development strategies.
  • Good data recording, presentation, communication and interpersonal skills.
