Executive Director Pharmacovigilance

One of my key clients is currently looking for an Executive Director of Pharmacovigilance. This position is responsible for managing all of the PV operations activities associated with collecting, processing, and reporting spontaneous adverse drug reactions for my clients marketed products and serious adverse events from clinical trials. This position also serves as a lead on global committees and task forces to ensure the alignment of safety processes across the affiliate sites are completed in compliance with global regulations. This position interacts with senior leaders of other functions (clinical, regulatory, data management, etc.), teams (clinical teams, commercial teams), external vendors, license partners, and with safety leaders across a number of locations. This position works independently with limited supervision, and makes decisions based on a thorough understanding of my clients safety operations. This position has global responsibilities to ensure that CSPV SOPs and practices are consistent across sites and executes agreements with commercial partners to ensure that safety practices are supported globally.


Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in nursing, pharmacy or healthcare related field, advanced degree preferred.
  • 15 years of pharmaceutical/safety experience, with 10 years of PV management experience


1. Considered a strategic leader and is extremely knowledgeable regarding external requirements, trends, and best practices and understands the implications for internal strategy of the function globally
2. Drives strategic vision and activities that span across function, regions and other areas of the organization
3. Creates a culture of compliance for the function: works cross-functionally to identify risks and trends for the function.
4. Accountable for the global strategic plans; defines and manages the priorities within the function and drives global implementation
