Job Description

I am exclusively recruiting for a Boutique Consultancy in the Cambridgeshire area who are searching for a Programme Manager / Associate Director to work alongside the current Programme Director to deliver on Clients projects.

The role has some flexibility on working from home 1 - 2 days a week. Ideally from working in developing at least two different organisations in different segments of the sector (i.e., pharma, biotech, CRO, consultancy) and ideally with experience of developing at least two different types of product i.e., (small molecule NCE, biologic, ATMP/CGT, diagnostic, drug-device combo's)

  • Working within multidisciplinary/multiorganisational, highly dispersed project teams and senior management team to manage and where necessary, direct R&D projects to required timelines and budget
  • R&D project planning incl. designing, scheduling (experienced MS Project user essential), placement of out-sourced R&D work i.e., at least two of: nonclinical (in vitro and/or in vivo), bioanalytical, CMC, manufacturing, clinical
  • Oversight of out-sourced R&D work on behalf of client, ensuring work is completed per contract/protocol, appropriately reported, reviewed and finalised in a timely manner
  • Communication of timelines, priorities, risks (risk management analysis), issues/slippage to all team members and/or to senior management
  • Previous involvement in at least two other core aspects of R&D programmes (e.g., regulatory, patents, portfolio management, licensing/due diligence)

Paper Qualifications & Person Specification

  • Advanced degree in a life science discipline (an MD or MBA could be an advantageous but not a requirement)
  • Self-starter and finisher, with proven ability to work unsupervised and yet also a team player with strong interpersonal skills and proven ability to lead and influence
  • Equally comfortable liaising and working with clients, contractors and academics, from junior scientific staff through to senior executives
  • Proactive and flexible attitude to work incl. hours and business travel
