Global Medical Affairs Manager (m/f/d)

Baden-Württemberg, Germany 

Location: Freiburg im Breisgau (with once a month on-site presence required)

An internationally active, research-driven pharmaceutical company focused on digestive and metabolic diseases is seeking a Global Medical Affairs Manager to join its growing team.

With a strong heritage as a family-owned business and a global footprint, the organization is dedicated to developing and delivering innovative therapies across gastrointestinal and hepatobiliary conditions, including areas such as inflammatory bowel disease and rare liver disorders. The mission is simple: improve patient outcomes through meaningful scientific progress and collaboration.

 

The Role

Sitting at the intersection of clinical development and commercial strategy, Global Medical Affairs plays a critical role in translating complex science into impactful medical communication.

This is an exciting opportunity to join during a key product launch phase, working within a highly collaborative global team and partnering closely with a scientific counterpart.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead medical strategy within therapeutic area and cross-functional development teams
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with international key opinion leaders (KOLs), healthcare professionals, and patient organizations
  • Establish and manage global advisory boards and expert engagements
  • Contribute to international scientific congresses and company-led symposia
  • Translate clinical data into compelling, scientifically balanced medical content (presentations, publications, training materials)
  • Conduct in-depth literature research and competitive intelligence analysis
  • Review and approve medical and promotional materials in line with scientific standards
  • Support external innovation activities, including scientific evaluation and due diligence of pipeline opportunities
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with R&D, market access, commercial teams, and global affiliates

 

Your Profile

  • Advanced degree in life sciences (MD, PharmD, PhD or equivalent preferred)
  • 5+ years’ experience in Medical Affairs within the pharmaceutical industry (international exposure preferred)
  • Strong experience in pre-launch and launch activities
  • Therapeutic expertise in gastroenterology and hepatology is essential
  • Experience in patient engagement initiatives
  • Fluent in English and German (additional languages are a plus)
  • Strong scientific communication and analytical skills
  • Structured, independent working style with a collaborative and proactive mindset
  • Willingness to travel and be regularly present on-site
